My story
Leanne Trainor - registered physiotherapist and osteopath with over 30 years of clinical experience.
My job is to help people in pain and improve their mobility and quality of life. For most of my career, I did that through hands-on treatment. I worked with thousands of clients dealing with chronic lower back pain, neck and shoulder tension, and bodies that wouldn't move the way they used to.
I started asking myself: What if there was a way for people to sustain their healing without depending on me?
Then everything changed.
In the 1990s, I had surgery and developed my own chronic pain. Between the physical demands of treating clients and staying active in my personal life, I needed something sustainable—something I could practice daily without adding more stress to my already overworked body.
That's when I discovered somatics (somatic movement patterns).
It wasn't just another modality. It was a complete shift in how I understood healing. Instead of treating symptoms, somatics taught me to retrain my nervous system—to release the patterns that were causing my pain in the first place.
Somatics became part of my daily living. It's how I've successfully managed my own chronic pain for decades. It's how I've sustained my mobility and gained the longevity to continue working in an incredibly physical career.
After experiencing this transformation myself, I pursued certification in ESTT (Essential Somatic Teacher Training) so I could teach others the same tools that changed my life.
I've treated thousands of clients and lived through my own journey with chronic pain. That combination of professional expertise and personal experience shapes everything I teach.

Why Somatics Movement?
After three decades of hands-on practice, I could have stayed comfortable doing what I'd always done.
But I was watching people struggle—coming back week after week, managing pain but never truly getting free from it.
Somatics gave me a better way. It gave me the ability to navigate my own pain and sustain my mobility without burning out my body in the process.
Now I'm stepping away from the treatment table to focus on teaching others what I've learned.
